Chimera Typhon AT — The Real Deal for Desert Performance
I picked up a set of 35" Chimera Typhon AT's for my 2025 Pro R 4 Ultimate, mounted on Raceline beadlocks, and they've completely changed how I experience the desert.
My previous tires struggled in sand — too much digging, not enough control. The Typhons are a different animal entirely.
They grip when you need traction and break loose predictably when you want to slide, giving you real confidence through corners.
The aggressive tread and 8-ply construction look as tough as they perform. After 2,000+ miles of mixed desert terrain — washes, rocky trails, hard-pack dirt, and sand — these tires still look like they're fresh out of the box and ready for more.
What impressed me most was how little wheel spin I experienced in conditions where I'd normally expect to fight for grip. Handling and cornering improved noticeably, and braking response on dry dirt, sand, and rock is excellent. The ride is firm enough to feel planted but smooth enough to stay comfortable over rough ground.
If you're looking for an all-terrain tire that can genuinely handle everything the desert throws at it — and do it with confidence — the Chimera Typhons are hard to beat at the price point.
